“Giving brings a far greater blessing than receiving.” Acts 20:35 TPT
It’s the time of the year when we receive gifts and give gifts. I know most of us love to receive gifts, but, at the same time, giving is a blessing also. I love to give someone a gift that I think they’ll “like” and it turns out they LOVE it. It brought them so much excitement, you can see the joy on their face for what you’ve given to them is truly better.
The tradition of giving gifts at Christmas comes from the Three Wise Men who brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to baby Jesus. Those were tangible gifts. Gifts are not always tangible.
Giving is not just about handing people physical “things.” It’s about the gift of serving, giving of your time, giving of yourself. It’s being generous with what God has given you to be a servant of. If you have a family, or a church family, where you have been loved, ministered to, and are blessed by; then, you have received that gift because of God and somebody else’s generosity. You have received a generous gift. When you receive that, it’s FOR you, but not ABOUT you. Don’t continue to just receive but give generously in return. You have received generosity, learn to be generous in return.
God gave the gift of Jesus to us. Mary delivered Him and He delivered us. Jesus gave the ultimate gift for us - His life. It is a joy and delight to know He gave us the ultimate gift! Not just at Christmas but every day, decide to live and give generously!
