A Tree with Strong Roots Withstands Storms

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.“ Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught.” Colossians 2:6-7

As Christians, it is important to establish strong roots in the Lord and in the church body.

A tree that grows in the ground or grounded, grows tall and even grows branches and produces fruit during its lifetime. Roots are an essential part. It’s roots give it a sense of stability. They anchor a tree is place. The roots dig into the foundation and allow the tree to grow tremendously tall, sturdy and strong. The roots also provide a way for the necessary nutrients to work into the soil that the tree needs to grow and to eventually produce fruit. As roots branch out, they enter-twine and rub against each other enabling them to fuse together into a natural graft that is even sturdier. Added connections build strength in the roots and facilitate the flow of water and nutrients. Just as believers if we connect, we will graft into one another. It helps build strength in us.

Rooting yourself to Jesus means establishing a strong faith and reliance on Jesus so that you will not fall or be tossed around during storms in your life. Some trees need strong storms to help develop their root system. Your roots keep you firmly attached to Him.

I took this photograph this summer on our vacation. To me, this picture is an example of the life rooted in Christ even when things beyond its control tries to pull it away. The tree stays rooted in Him. A root connection with the Lord is necessary for a solid spiritual life. If you had no roots or bad roots, you would be disconnected from Him.

You can see here there is not enough soil, and the tree can’t stand alone on the pedestal and survive. So it keeps its route connection to the main foundation. Roots have grafted together and keep the tree connected to its foundation.

Find your foundation in Him and keep rooted even if there’s a few nuts in your tree! 🌳
