Fervent Faith-fueled Prayers

“Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before Him, for if we ask anything agreeable to His will, He will hear us. And if we know that He hears us and whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the request we ask of Him.” 1 John 5:14-15 TPT I’ve been learning more about prayer lately. My prayer life seems dull and pointless. I have a lot of “filler” prayers like “help me to have a good day”, “bless my family”, and “your will be done.” I get tired of the rote prayers my time has turned into.
I have noticed though that the prayers I really want answered, that are for me, I tend to pray about more fervently and even tell Him how He should answer that prayer. Being fervent is okay; but focusing on me and my needs is not the best way to pray. I felt like God said to me, pick one need on your prayer list that is not about you and pray for that need as fervently as you pray for your own needs. That was convicting for me! I thought about it for several weeks and couldn’t come up with which one need I should pray for. One morning I was getting ready in the bathroom and God brought the name of one of the people on my prayer list to mind and said, “pray for her fervently for 30 days” so I have been and 30 has stretched into 60. I’m not sure what God is answering in her life but I am still praying more fervently for her need. I don’t just pray for her needs but I pray fervently for her as a believer. I pray bold prayers and I’m specific (because I do know her need). The longer I pray for her, the more faith-fueled and fervent my prayers become. I want an answer to her prayer and my prayers for her that will only be explained by the existence of a great God WHO HEARS OUR PRAYERS and answers those in alignment with Him.
We can pray just like Elijah or Moses or David or Joshua. “Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for 3 1/2 years.” James 5:17 They ALL had access to a powerful God and we have the same access to the same God! They also had a boldness to their prayers - no filler lines.
There is nothing we can pray about that is beyond His power. There will NEVER be a prayer request when our fervency or boldness surpasses God’s ability to answer it. If we truly understand that, we wouldn’t be stunned by the answers to prayers and/or miracles when God comes through!
Don’t just pray for a good day and blessings. Pray fervently and boldly that you will find purpose in each day and that everything you do will bring Him glory. “Since we have this confidence, we can also have great boldness before Him, for if we ask anything agreeable to His will, He will hear us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we also know that we have obtained the requests we ask of Him.” 1 John 5:14-15
That doesn’t mean whatever you ask for, you have in your back pocket. It means your prayers will be answered if your desires and plans agree with His desires and plans for you. It means while you pray and after you pray, you must not just sit and wait for an answer to prayer. If you’re praying for a new job, apply for one or send out your resume. If you’re praying to get well, do what you can to take care of your health and to improve it - eat right and exercise. Get involved in your answer to your prayer. I think God loves it when we participate in the answer to our own prayers.
I hope prayer isn’t something we save for emergencies. I hope it’s not something we’re just laid back about. There is nothing we can’t pray about. There is power in prayer!
I want to encourage all of you to find a need on your prayer list and fervently pray for that needs for 30 days and see what happens. See what God will do!
