For Those Tears I Died

Many people in the Bible cried, Mary and Martha, Joseph, Esther,Job …even Jesus. “Jesus wept.” John 11:35 Jeremiah is even known as a weeping prophet because he cried so much .
We often hear that tears are good for us. They cause us to feel better and they take away anxiety. Often they are a cry out to God when you can’t find the right words.
Tears can represent sorrow and mourning. Tears of sadness and tiredness. There are tears of joy and happiness too. Whatever the reason, I know I feel better after a good, long cry for a happy or a sad reason.
There’s scientific and medical studies that show the benefit of tears so why does the Bible say “He will wipe away every tear” and “crying will be no more.” (Rev. 21:4) Our tears do not escape God‘s notice. God cares about our pain that causes tears while we’re here on earth. Tears on earth ARE a comfort. He cares about the joy that causes happy tears on earth also.
We produce sad tears when life isn’t what we had expected or imagined it to be. We produce tears of joy as a testament of dreams fulfilled.
Psalm 56:8 says “He puts my tears in His bottle”. Jars AND bottles. Jars and bottles are made to hold liquids, including tears. Jars have a wide mouth. Jesus is always blessing empty or near empty jars. John 2:7 Jesus says to the servants “Fill the jars with water.” The water turns into wine. He blessed the empty jars. Jars are meant to hold a lot, including thousands of tears. Bottles, on the other hand, usually have a small opening or neck so they don’t hold as much. God chooses to bless our jars to full, but He limits our tears to just bottles.
Someday we will experience eternal joy. There will be no more pain and suffering. There will be no more joy on earth but we will be in heaven. All tears will be replaced with His presence and ultimate victory! He will break every jar and bottle!
“And He will wipe away every tear from every face!” Rev. 21:4\
