I’ll Drink To That!

“That you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Eph. 3:19
Is your glass half full or half empty? There’s more to this old saying than I thought. Perspective does matter but does there even need to be a choice made in this case? Can we all just have a full glass? Maybe it’s not all about how much is in the glass from your perspective but about WHAT is in the glass.
Jesus said “you will have trouble” but “be of good cheer”. He says “we are knocked down” but “not destroyed.” We are “in the flood” but we “don’t drown.” He shows us the half empty view of life and then the full view of life. Our God shows us how He turns half empty into full. What is fullness? Having fullness is having within our limits all that we can contain. Our God always helps us overcome so that should turn us all from pessimists to optimists. (Rom. 8:37)
If we are half full or half empty, we can still pour into someone else because He has filled us full. No matter what your perspective, both half empty or half full, can fill someone enough and both are refillable with living water. “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asked you for a drink, you would’ve asked him and he would’ve given you the living water.” John 4:10
The glass is always full-partially full of water and partially full of air but it is FULL of something. You see the water but not the air. It’s always full but you can’t always see part of it. We need the unseen air as much as we need water, even from a spiritual perspective. They are equally important-that which you can see and that which you cannot see. Both give life and both fill us to full and when we are full, we can pour into others.
The level of air and water in the glass should not be a barrier to serving one another. It’s what the glass is full of that matters. He is the air we breath and the living water in our glass.
There’s more in your glass than you realize. God can fill every area of your life when you drink of Him so you can live life to the fullest. You will never know how very important the water of life is until your cup is dry and empty. Stay filled with the fullness of Christ that satisfies that thirst and satisfies the deepest needs. May He fill you to the limit!
