Jesus, Take the Wheel

“Noah obeyed all that Yahweh had commanded him.” Genesis‬ ‭7‬:‭5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The ark Noah built was built in obedience to what God said to him. Noah built it exactly the way God instructed him too, without a steering wheel. The ark had NO steering wheel! Did Noah ever wonder why there was no steering wheel? Did it concern him where he would be and where he would end up when the rain stopped? I’m sure it entered his mind, but his faith wasn’t only in building the boat and moving in, but he had enough faith to let God be in control of the boat.

The boat also didn’t have a captain, oars, sails, or anything that Noah could possibly use to help him steer. He had to have total trust in God. What the ark did have was the protection of God around Noah and his family.

Not only did the ark not have any steering or other equipment; but when the rain stopped, it didn’t crash onto any rocks. It landed on top of them but had no damage. “And on the 17th day of the 7th month, the ark came to rest on the highest peak in Ararat.” Genesis‬ ‭8‬:‭4‬ ‭TPT‬‬ It came to rest like it floated and landed gently on the mountain. No crashing of waves or boats but still had God’s protection. It landed gently.

When life’s storms seem torrential and we’re out in the pouring rain, what do we do? When God asks us to do something that doesn’t make sense and the world will think we’re nuts, what do we do? When it looks like we won’t have control, we must take it one step at a time. Remember we have His protection around us. Remember to follow His specific directions and trust Him totally. He will steer us in the right direction. He will get us where He wants us to be!

We must trust His protection and guidance in the storms even in the roughest waters! Outside the ark, there is no protection or direction.
