Life Is A Highway-How’s Your Driving?

When we’re about 15 years old, we begin to notice cars. We know we’ll be learning to drive soon. We begin to learn the basics of owning a car and driving one. Excited, we sign up for lessons! We might feel anxious about our first lesson but it’s fun to learn. When you first get on the road and actually drive, you might wonder if you know enough. You might be nervous or anxious. The teacher can put you at ease, IF you let him. Gradually, the more you drive, the more comfortable you become. You know more laws, what signs are telling you and how to drive defensively and so on. You’re a pro and at ease!

Before, you had been around cars and knew about them but you didn’t really understand with clear certainty how it all works until you experienced sitting in the front seat and driving among others. You have now experienced driving and are now part of the “driving” community.

That’s how it is with God. You can know ABOUT Him. You can know His teachings, His Word and His commandments. You might know lots about Him. From that knowledge, you will have a perception of truth and who He is.

You will never truly understand, with certainty and clearly, the truth of God and who He is though until you have a personal relationship with Him. You must spend time with Him and let Him teach you. Pray more. Read and study His Word. You must go deeper and spend more time with Him.

The knowledge of knowing about God is in itself empty. To make the knowledge worth something, you must know Him to the point that it leads to a changed life and right living. You might be given a ticket but He’s already paid for it. You are driving but He is beside you and can always grab the wheel or step on the brakes! You have that kind of a relationship.

Neither knowledge about God or knowing God is a secret. It’s available to all who want to go on a ride with Him.

Do you know where you’re going to and who is with you? Do you know ABOUT God or do you KNOW God??
