Pending

Back in December, Stan and I felt like God called us to move to Indiana. There’s been a lot of flopping back and forth and struggling to make sure we made the right decision. Texas had been good. We’ve been content and comfortable there but we knew it was a temporary place.
Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover a new territory he was destined to inherit from God. “He left with only a promise and w/o knowing where he was going or why, He stepped out, literally, in faith. His eyes of faith were set on the city (for us, Indianapolis) and home, ‘whose architect and builder is God Himself.’”Heb. 11:8-10
Here we are now in Indiana. We were motivated by God’s call. We left Matt and family, our friends, our church, our newer home (unsold) to do what God called us to do. We didn’t know where we would live and what we would be doing here.
Abraham was obedient and responded without details. We have been obedient and responded by moving even though we don’t have details. I tell myself that the deeper my level of trusting Him - the less need there is for details from Him. All we need to know is that He is with us and we can depend on Him.
We have been here for 3 months now and things are at a standstill or “pending.” I keep reminding myself that what He wants to happen WILL happen in “due” time. Pending is like watching and waiting. It doesn’t happen fast enough in our opinion. Something should be happening but we must wait for other things to happen in order to bring it to completion. We have a home in Indianapolis that is “pending” while our home in Texas sells. There is a “pending sign” on our house in Texas while the people in Missouri sell their home there first. We are all pending upon one another. All 3 will happen in “due” time. We just don’t know when things will happen and what we will be doing here but we were obedient and now we wait in frustration.
I’ve been telling people the house will sell and we’ll know more in “due” time. That’s what the Bible says - due time. (Gal. 6:9) I wondered what does that even mean?? Due is “proper, fitting, at the time specified.” Only God knows the proper time and the time is what He specified. It doesn’t matter that I don’t know what the “due” time is because God is the great time-keeper who IS in control. What do I do until “due” time? I don’t run away. I don’t give up. I don’t try to figure it out. I stay. I am obedient and I worship till He answers.
In the meantime, we’ve been living in our small camper in a campground 20 miles away. Like Abraham, we stepped out in faith, moved to a land we don’t know, living in a tent (camper) having faith in God and waiting for the pending to turn to “sold.” God will do what He says the RIGHT time. “Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” Hab. 2:3
