Living in Color

While I was praying this morning, God gave me this analogy about how our lives are like a coloring page. A coloring page comes with lines on it and we learn to color within those lines. If we color outside of the lines, we still have a picture but it’s not the best picture it could be.

In our lives, His Word is our guideline or boundary that work best if we don’t go over the boundary. If we learn to stay within the lines, then the final picture is a masterpiece full of a variety of colors.

We use many colors when coloring a picture to make it more beautiful. In the same way, God uses many colors of experiences in our lives to create us into a beautiful creation and final masterpiece. If you were to scribble black all over your picture, including outside of the lines, all the darkness, chaos and despair would ruin the beauty of what was intended. Let God use every color in your life. It’s all the different colors in our lives that sets us apart from each other.

What about drawing our own lines or picture to color? Most of us can’t even draw a simple bird or anything else if left on our own. It would not be quite as good as the one on the coloring page that God drew, although it could be done. So it is in life-most of us can’t control our lives if left on our own. We could live a good life but it wouldn’t be the very best, vibrant life.

True faith calls us to color our best life with vivid colors within the boundaries of Him and His Word. A masterpiece is just that-a piece of craftsmanship done with extraordinary skill by the Master, Himself. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
