Out of My Comfort Zone

How many times have I claimed to be a woman of strong faith but I don’t always live a life that requires faith?
When I wrote the book the Lord gave me, it was accomplished. Getting it published was a little scary but exciting at the same time.
When I signed the contract for my book, I agreed to allow a publicist to schedule interviews. I pushed that thought to the back of my mind thinking it will never happen because I am a nobody and I don’t talk in groups or do interviews. Then came the first interview confirmation. Interviews were scheduled all over the country with local Christian TV and radio stations. Okay, NOW I was way out of my comfort zone. To prepare, I reread my book, wrote notes, highlighted key sentences to encourage others and answered possible questions the show hosts could ask me. I was all “studied”up on my own book so that my "discomfort zone" would be a little easier. A few days before the interview, I could not find my book and notes ANYWHERE! I am not one to lose things but the book has still not been found. In the back of my mind, I was thinking God is trying to teach me to trust him with areas of my life where I am not comfortable-to use that "great faith" I have.
If you are alive, God will require us to step out of our comfort zone at some point and it will happen more than once! In order to get through your “uncomfortable zone”, you must make a decision. You must decide what you truly believe about God. Will you believe God is in it? Will you face this opportunity to increase in your faith. The problem is that those uncomfortable moments don’t feel like opportunities at all. But, we must step out and trust that God will go before us, that He will step with us and that He will carry us every moment of the journey through our “discomfort”.
I made it through the first 3 interviews. Each one got a little easier. I felt like I could breathe a little now.
The next morning after the first few interviews, my devotion by Henry Blackaby was so perfect. “We have a natural tendency to find our ‘comfort zone’ and then position ourselves firmly in place. We position ourselves where we are perfectly capable of handling everything but then we have stopped growing in our understanding of God. God‘s desire is to take you from where you are to where he wants you to be. Perhaps you need to trust God to a degree you never have before. In order to experience God to the degree He wants you to, there will be adjustments. I had to adjust by doing my interviews while trusting God to give me the right words to say. As always, He has been faithful. There are more interviews coming up-more chances to trust Him. I'm living that life that requires faith!
Are you prepared for Christ to reveal himself to you in your "discomfort"? Are you ready for dimensions that will change your life? Are you willing to abandon that which makes you comfortable?” Are you ready to grow while living out of your comfort zone? Live that life of strong faith you believe you have!
