Waiting for the Egg to Hatch

While struggling this week with prayers that I’m tired of waiting for God to take care of, I ran across this quote - “if an egg is broken by sudden outside force, life ends. If broken from inside force, life begins. Great things always begin from inside.”

Each one of my prayers I would like an answer for is an egg. I have maybe a half dozen. Those prayers appear to be just sitting there doing nothing. Day after day I wait for an answer to hatch. I could help these eggs hatch or answer these prayers using external forces.

My first thought is to help God out by answering my prayer the way I think He should answer it and in the timing I think is best. He just might need my help. But, I am an external force that has no control. If I were to hatch the eggs my way, by myself that would be my answer and end of that life.

So how do I resist being an external force that hatches the eggs how I want, when I want? The Word says to center our life on the spirit AND to wait patiently. The Bible of is full of believers who waited and waited and waited on God. I am no different from them and needing to wait.

How do I center my life on the Spirit? The center of my life would be my heart. My heart is where the Holy Spirit lives. Its the core of my being. It’s the store house where I have emotions, love and wisdom. It is on the inside and essential to life and living. It is protected there from external forces. Proverbs 4:24 says to “guard your heart, it is a wellspring of life.”

As a believer, I possess a greater inside force that is more powerful than anything I try externally. Whatever I am waiting for an answer to, God is working it on the inside (where I can’t see the answer) and it happens slowly over time and it will lead to new birth or new beginning.

The Lord wants us to be patient and persevere in prayer. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you not wanting anyone to perish.” 2 Peter 3:9 God may seem slow as we face our lack of answers and He may seem long in delivering us but God is not slow - He just doesn’t work on our timetable. He knows the best time for the answers and a new beginning.

Isaiah 40:31 b says “…They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” They will live and not die. Even the strongest people get tired of waiting at times but God never fails. He is always at work on the inside and doesn’t need help from the outside!
